Tamilnadu Amateur Mallakhamb Association (TAMA)

The Tamilnadu Amateur Mallakhamb Association (TAMA) was established in 2006 with a vision to promote and nurture the traditional sport of Mallakhamb in Tamil Nadu. Registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1975 with registration number 99/2006, TAMA stands as a dedicated body committed to the growth and recognition of Mallakhamb at both grassroots and competitive levels.

Mallakhamb, a heritage sport that combines gymnastics, yoga, and wrestling techniques, is deeply rooted in Indian tradition. At TAMA, our mission is to create awareness about this unique art form and inspire individuals, especially youth, to explore its physical and mental benefits.

Since its inception, TAMA has been instrumental in:

  • Organizing state-level competitions, training camps, and workshops to foster talent.
  • Providing a platform for budding athletes to shine.
  • Collaborating with schools, colleges, and local sports organizations to integrate Mallakhamb into mainstream sports culture.

We work closely with district-level associations, providing them with guidance, resources, and opportunities to develop Mallakhamb programs in their regions. With an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility, TAMA ensures that participants from all backgrounds can experience the transformative power of this sport.

Our efforts have resulted in many talented athletes representing Tamil Nadu in national championships, bringing laurels to the state. As custodians of this ancient art form, TAMA also strives to preserve its traditional values while adapting it for modern audiences.

Join us in our journey to revive and popularize Mallakhamb in Tamil Nadu. Together, let’s empower individuals, celebrate our culture, and build a strong community of athletes passionate about this incredible sport.
